New discovery programs

New Discovery programs are strategically focused in three geographical areas, i.e., Australia, the Americas and Southern Africa. Exploration aims to maintain a high quality project portfolio by continuously renewing and turning over projects in order to maximise discovery success.

Current projects include the McArthur Basin Zinc Project in the Northern Territory, the Abra Polymetallic Project and the Plumridge Nickel Project in Western Australia, and the Curnamona copper project in South Australia. Main exploration activities in 2015 included a 5-hole diamond drilling program at Abra, testing a variety of geophysical and geological targets, and a 10-hole diamond drilling program on various sediment-hosted zinc targets in the McArthur Basin under the North Batten Joint Venture.

The Americas

The Company has two joint ventures in the Belt-Purcell Basin Zinc Project in an area covering the Canadian-USA border (British Columbia and Idaho); and the Limoeiro Nickel Joint Venture in Brazil, where a 13-hole diamond drilling program is being carried out in the 2015 field season.

Southern Africa

MMG has been active in Southern Africa since 2010, having been involved in a number of copper and nickel exploration projects in the DRC, Zambia, Tanzania and Cote d’Ivoire. The company has carried out a major project generation exercise across the Central African Copper Belt and is currently following up on targets generated from this in both the DRC and Zambia. One example is the Kasansama Copper Project to the west of Likasi where the company carried out extensive geochemical, geophysical and follow up drill programmes in 2015. In Zambia, the Company is currently drill testing a number of targets in the Solwezi area after surface geochemical sampling and mapping early in 2015. Additional projects are either being pursued, under review, or currently being negotiated with third parties in both the DRC and Zambia, as part of the Africa Growth Strategy.
